Equip Expo Sets the Stage for Success with Record Attendance
The Equip Expo, a premier trade show for the landscape, outdoor living, and equipment industries, has once again outdone itself, welcoming nearly 30,000 registered attendees this past October. Under the stewardship of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), this year's expo not only broke previous attendance records, but did so with remarkable growth, drawing in crowds from all 50 states and 52 countries.
A Growing Community at Equip
The event, held from October 21 to October 24, 2024, displayed an impressive 1.2 million square feet of exhibit space, solidifying its position as one of the largest trade shows in the country. President and CEO of OPEI, Kris Kiser, emphasized the importance of evolving the show to better serve both businesses and consumers in the industry. Notably, landscaper attendance surged by 12%, and dealer attendance saw an even more significant rise of 17%.
Innovative Experiences and Networking Opportunities
Equip Expo stands out not just for its massive scale, but also for the diverse experiences it offers to attendees. Highlights of this year’s expo included a standing-room-only keynote address delivered by Jesse Cole, creator of the viral sensation Savannah Bananas, and a lively Welcome Reception at the famed Churchill Downs, sponsored by CAT. Adding to the entertainment, the event featured a concert with popular artists like Big and Rich and Gretchen Wilson.
With the introduction of the new Equip Creator Space, attendees had the opportunity to engage and network with industry influencers directly on the show floor, reinforcing the idea that Equip Expo is not just a trade show, but a vibrant community hub for industry professionals.
Educational Offerings and Future Growth
This year brought an array of educational sessions covering key topics such as irrigation, outdoor lighting, erosion control, and tree care, presented in both English and Spanish. With partnerships spanning renowned organizations like Landscape Management magazine and the International Society of Arboriculture, attendees were equipped with valuable insights to boost their operational and customer service strategies.
Looking ahead, plans are already being laid for the 2025 event, which promises to be even more ambitious. Attendees can expect a unique opportunity to help select a name for a new, boutique-style, small-batch bourbon to be introduced at the next expo.
The Economic Impact of Equip
Not only does Equip Expo represent an opportunity for networking and education, but it also boasts substantial economic benefits for Louisville, contributing over $30 million annually. As the Kentucky Exposition Center undergoes a $400 million expansion, OPEI is considering rotations to new cities for the Expo in 2028 and 2029, ensuring flexibility while maintaining a strong commitment to Louisville as its long-standing home.
Preparing for the Future
This year marked another significant milestone for the Equip Expo, reinforcing its status as the “Greatest Trade Show of 2024” as recognized by Trade Show Executive magazine. Amidst plans for further innovations and educational enhancements, the growing participation reflects a robust and dynamic industry adapting to changing landscapes.
Stay tuned as Equip Expo continues shaping the future of the outdoor services industry, poised to remain a vital platform for professionals seeking to connect, learn, and with unique experiences.
