A Burglary Impacting Local Business
Boulder police are currently investigating a significant burglary that hit Velte Forestry and Arboriculture, a small tree care business in the 2700 block of Pine Street. Over the weekend, thieves stole more than $30,000 worth of essential equipment, including chainsaws, a chipper truck, a trailer, and a skid steer, impacting the operations of the already small enterprise.
The Hard-Hitting Effects of The Theft
According to owner Paul Velte, the theft is severely affecting his company’s ability to serve its customers. "We’re trying to borrow equipment from other arborists in the area to get through the week," Velte noted, emphasizing the community's spirit among arborists in times of need.
This incident raises concern not just for Velte but also reflects on how integral these businesses are to our communities, particularly for homeowners and property managers who depend on their services for maintaining mature trees and landscapes.
Joining the Community to Fight Back
Police spokesperson Dionne Waugh urged community members to come forward with any information regarding the theft. Community involvement plays a crucial role in solving such crimes, as seen in similar incidents affecting local businesses like Terrascapes Total Landscaping Services, where public vigilance filled in the gaps left by insufficient security measures.
The Importance of Security for Small Businesses
Businesses like Velte Forestry represent the backbone of local industries, especially in sustainable landscaping and care. The stolen equipment is not just tools but vital assets that allow such companies to fulfill contracts and maintain client trust. Homeowners and commercial property owners relying on these services must recognize how essential these businesses are to their property upkeep. This theft isn’t an isolated incident; it highlights a growing concern among all small businesses that need to enhance their security measures.
